I just spent a week at Winchester college, at a camp where foreign students come to improve their English. It sounds a bit of a strange thing to do, but it was actually really fun! I was a student host, meaning I was there to act as a student, but also to talk to everyone and ensure they are happy and enjoying themselves. I did the same thing last year, and not only do we get paid, but we also make some really good friends.

The people that really made the week were the Activity Leaders, who tended to be aged between 18 and 25, and led activites and generally made sure everyone had a really good time! For example, one evening we had a pub quiz (which included me wearing a Ewan McGregor mask!), and another night we had a dating game which left 2 couples very pleased, and 2 couples not quite so happy! The couples had to go on a date on sunday evening, and I'm so upset that I missed it...apparently it was hilarious!

The majority of the time was spent in lessons, for example Creative Writing, Art, Drama, Music or similar things. I did Creative Writing and History of Art. Both were really good, partly because they were very easy and relaxing, and also because of the hilarious teachers. They hire teachers from universities or other top institutes, meaning the lessons are really good and interesting, while the students improve their English. How they understand the lessons in a foreign language beats me, but they all seemed to do really well!
I'm definatley going to go back next year!
